How Long Does POD Production and Shipping Take

Sofia Ramirez Written by Sofia Ramirez

The total time for a POD order to reach your customer breaks down into two parts: production time (how long it takes to make the product) and shipping time (how long it takes to reach the destination). This article walks through both so you can set accurate expectations for your customers.

The Two Stages of a POD Order

Production Time

Production time is how long it takes BrandSKU to print, quality-check, pack, and prepare your order for shipment. It starts once payment is confirmed and the order enters the Being Fulfilled status.

Production time varies by:

  • Product type — apparel, drinkware, home goods, and large items each have different production speeds
  • Printing method — sublimation, UV printing, and digital direct printing each take slightly different amounts of time
  • Order volume — bulk orders may take longer than single-unit orders

You can see the estimated production time for each product on the product detail page before placing an order.

Shipping Time

Shipping time is how long it takes for the finished order to reach the destination address after it leaves the warehouse. This depends on the shipping method you choose at checkout and the destination country.

Shipping Options and Estimated Delivery Times

BrandSKU offers three shipping methods for POD orders:

Standard Shipping

  • Delivery time: 10–15 business days
  • Best for: cost-conscious orders where speed isn't critical

Fast Shipping

  • Delivery time: 7–12 business days
  • Best for: a balance of speed and cost

Express Shipping

  • Delivery time: 4–7 business days
  • Best for: urgent orders where fastest delivery is a priority

Note: These times cover the shipping stage only — after production is complete. To estimate your customer's total wait, add the product's production time to the shipping time.

How to Estimate the Total Timeline

To calculate the full timeline for a POD order:

  1. Check the product detail page for the estimated production time
  2. Add the shipping time based on the method selected at checkout
  3. Communicate this combined estimate to your customer

For example: A t-shirt with a 3-business-day production time shipped via Standard Shipping (10–15 business days) will arrive approximately 13–18 business days after payment.

Factors That Can Affect Timing

Delivery times are estimates only, and actual transit may vary due to:

  • Peak seasons (holidays, promotional periods)
  • Customs processing for international orders
  • Weather or transportation disruptions
  • Incorrect or incomplete shipping addresses

Note: BrandSKU is not responsible for delays caused by natural disasters, force majeure events, or customs holds beyond our control. If your order is significantly delayed, contact [email protected] with your order number and we'll look into the current status.
